Academics:
Study Smart: How to Get Amazing Grades With Minimal Effort – Jacob Flood
(My friend from my college wrote this. He scored 4.0/4.0 in mechanical engineering which I believe was only a myth until he came along. I haven’t read his book as I wasn’t aware at the time but his results should speak for itself. Ironically, with his grades, he could score any career but he went on to start his own company.)
Mindset:
The Magic Of Thinking Big – Dr. David J. Schwartz
Re-programming yourself for success. By age 18 (or even earlier), many of us have already been broken down mentally by school or life without us even realizing. Then we go through life hopelessly waiting for that one day where things will go our way.
The truth is that many things might seem out of reach, but if you truly believe it CAN be done … like KNOWING it, you will aggressively FIND your own way to make it happen. This isn’t just about achieving a materialistic goal, but about changing the opinion formed about yourself.
Creativity is your answer.
It transcends knowledge, wealth, hard work, and even luck.
Sales:
S.P.I.N Selling – Neil Rackman
(useful framework to think about in every day interactions. Transferable to interview skills)
Marketing:
How to Write a Good Advertisement – Victor Schwab
(Think of it as sales but in media form. Transferable to resume, cover letters, emails, etc.)
About the Future:
The Sovereign Individual: Mastering the Transition to the Information Age – James Dale Davidson/ William Rees-Mogg
(Sovereign Individual was written in the 90s but predicted the rise of smartphone, remote work, global marketplace, digital currency, decentralized finance, etc. using the logic of violence framework. Insane! It was way ahead of it’s time yet we’re still undergoing this transformation period as I writing this. Highly recommended if you want to get “in” on opportunities before everyone else)
For learning how to code:
(I didn’t learn how to code in school, but from this course)
Everything Else:
Youtube
(if the job requires you need to know certain skills, youtube can fill in the gap for you!)
